Re-Run: Animal (State) House

This post originally ran almost exactly a year ago. Given the upcoming elections and the fact that things are much the same now, I’m re-running it.   After all, the time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me.

In watching what goes on in Columbia, did you ever wonder if anyone was in charge? Since they’re the majority, I mean Republicans. Not all of them, just those in leadership positions that have established comfy fiefdoms and enjoy the power.

And it’s serious stuff they’re messin’ with. It’s not like someone dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet, or delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner. No, it’s education and economic progress they’re screwing up.

This whole “stimulus” controversy has become a divisive issue for the state and within the South Carolina GOP. And why is that? It’s because the legislative “leadership” wants to STAY the legislative “leadership.” To them, those of us who believe debt resolution is wise fiscal policy are of a morally casual attitude.

And, as far as they’re concerned, when President Obama twice denied Governor Sanford’s request to use a fraction of the funds designated to the state to pay down debt, the whole thing was over.

Over? Did I say “over”?

Nothing is over until the courts decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

Something needs to be done about this. We gotta take these bastards.

And what’s their rationale? That a few fiscal conservatives are trying to ruin a state they, themselves have already ruined.

If being fiscally responsible and constitutionally faithful is wrong – as their criticisms suggest – then shouldn’t we blame the whole political system? And if the whole political system is guilty, then isn’t this an indictment of our Constitution in general?

I put it to you – isn’t this an indictment of our entire American society?

Well, they can way whatever they want to us, but we’re not going to sit here and listen to them badmouth the United States of America.

Now… where can I get 10,000 marbles?

  1. The GOP leadership in Columbia is corrupt. They are only interested in what government can do for THEM! But the people of SC are pissed off. Don’t be surprised if the people throw a lot of these clowns out.

The people want their government back!

  2. I replied many weeks ago when Gov.Sanford tried to talk some sense to our we are in charge Legislature. This will continue until they are voted out or at least understand people are fed up. The Legislature has had too much control for too long and something has to happen for the people rise up. Currently we know that the Governors hands are tied as evident from the way Gov. Sanford was treated. They need to be informed that they are not elected for life. It is a part time job and they serve at the will of the citizens.

Hate to bring it up but the Germans did not bomb PearlHarbor. It was the Japanese. Just a heads up.
