Grope The Terrorists' Junk

Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani, the 36 year old Tanzanian tried for the bombing of the U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998 was acquitted in federal court in New York City of all but one of more than 280 charges of conspiracy and murder.  He was convicted of one count of conspiracy to destroy government buildings and property.

That disproportionate finding by the jury is criminal in itself.  As John Eligon of the New York Times wrote; “How could jurors convict Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani of conspiring to blow up buildings, but not of conspiring to murder the people in them?”

But consider that the judge in the trial ruled that testimony from a key witness was inadmissable because the government learned about him during CIA interrogations at a secret prison overseas.

In the ruling, the judge, Lewis A. Kaplan of Federal District Court in Manhattan, barred prosecutors from using an important witness against Mr. Ghailani because the government had learned about the man through Mr. Ghailani’s interrogation while he was in C.I.A. custody, where his lawyers say he was tortured.  The witness, Hussein Abebe, would have testified that he had sold Mr. Ghailani the TNT used to blow up the embassy in Dar es Salaam, prosecutors told the judge, calling him “a giant witness for the government.” [New York Times]

Mr. Ghailani claimed waterboarding among the “enhanced interrogation” techniques used on him.

Now cut to any major airport in the United States.  American citizen travelers are subjected to some pretty harsh physical interrogations of their own.

Penny Moroney of Chicago: “Her gloved hands touched my breasts…went between them. Then she went into the top of my slacks, inserted her hands between my underwear and my skin… then put her hands up on outside of slacks, and patted my genitals.” Ms. Moroney has artificial knees, which prompted the extra search. How knees translate to breasts is unknown.

Ella Swift of Grand Rapids, Michigan:  “The female officer ran her hand up the inside of my leg to my groin and she did it so hard and so rough she lifted me off my heels.  I think I yelped. I was in pain for about an hour afterwards. It just felt excessive and unnecessary.”

Kathy Bossi, Charlotte, North Carolina: “She put her full hand on my breast and said, ‘What is this?’.  And I said, ‘It’s my prosthesis because I’ve had breast cancer.’ And she said, ‘Well, you’ll need to show me that’.”  Cathy was asked to show her prosthetic breast, removing it from her bra.

And how effective have these searches been?  Weeelllll….

A federal judge in June threw out seizure of three fake passports from a traveler, saying that TSA screeners violated his Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable search and seizure. Congress authorizes TSA to search travelers for weapons and explosives; beyond that, the agency is overstepping its bounds, U.S. District Court Judge Algenon L. Marbley said. [WSJ.com]

We all understand the need for security these days and that security requires some compromise of minor liberties. What’s so dumbfounding is that a known al-Qaeda terrorist gets away with murdering over 200 people because of aggressive measures to get information from him while innocent Americans are violated in their own country.

Here’s a thought… If judges don’t like waterboarding, let’s interrogate terrorist suspects as if they were catching a flight from Dallas/Fort Worth.

A groin search with vice grips or a rectal search with a plumbers snake would likely detect any “junk” ordnance.  Could those be fake feet hiding explosives?  A good whack with a four pound sledge hammer should clear up that question.

And how do we know he’s not hiding something in his ear like a transponder or positioning device?  Hand me that drill, would ya?

After all, what’s good for Mr. and Mrs. America is good enough for terrorists.

  1. I’ve got to admit that, being starved of normal, healthy interaction with other human beings, I’m on the verge of fully participating in the new security measures at airports if the following conditions are met:

    1. There is a hot chick doing the groping. And, to be honest, she doesn’t have to be all that hot if she’s extra talented. It would really be nice to have a choice of security chicks, even if I have to wait longer or the flight is delayed.

    2. This can not be just a quick tease sort of groping. I expect this examination for “explosives and weapons” to be very, very thorough and worthy of my time which I naturally consider to be very valuable. I mean, come on! Twenty minutes at a minimum for gosh sake!

    3. I am allowed to tip the groping chick. I want her to be aware beforehand that if she does an extra good job, I will reward her. If she is really hot, I may also want extra groping and, being a fair man, I am willing to pay for it.

    4. Probing devices are not involved unless I specifically ask for such–which in all honesty, I’m not inclined to do.

    5. Use of rubber gloves must follow a strict protocol. I’m more of a basic, back-to-nature kind of fellow but I do understand the necessity of rubber gloves in this day and age. Though I prefer the hands clean and au naturel, I will allow the gloves since a lot (almost all, in my honest opinion) of other people are really filthy and nasty. I must insist though, that the exterior of the gloves be sanitized or fresh gloves be put on before it is my turn to be groped. I am willing to pay for the gloves or I can supply a pair. (I really kind of like the dish washing type gloves that allow a firm grip.)

  2. Whether you’re Christian or not, consider how all this plays into the thought of a one world government. Americans are being conditioned to accept the control of their every action. This will lead to more government control over every aspect of our lives. I don’t plan to be around when the ultimate control by the antichrist is unveiled, but there have been more things happen in the world and this country also to support the soon return of Christ for the Saints and for the beginning of the endtimes. It’s all in the Bible. Of course it is only revealed to those who seek the truth. It is revealed by God’s spirit, not by man’s intellect. Maranatha!

  3. Tyranny evolves on the back of a multitude of false dilemmas. Either we do this or the sky is going to fall. Whether it’s seeking cap and trade or seeking to have low-IQ goons sticking their fingers on or under the clothing of airline passengers, the aim is absolute control by those with an obsessive need for control.

We’re battling a psychological mindset more than anything else. And it’s the same mindset that man has been battling since the very beginning of human interaction. At every stage, we should be fighting to break the back of the evolving police state. Giving in to such abuse is actually counter-productive when it has been demonstrated by common sense and other countries’ successful methods that gangster molestation at airports is unnecessary.

  4. Unfortunately the terrorist are getting exactly what they want, fear and disruption of the people. I say profiling is what we need. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck it definitely isn’t a dog.

  5. Fear is being used as an excuse to bulk up the police state. Our government is passively cooperating with the terrorists by doing exactly what they want us to do in response and by ignoring, with a purpose, common sense.
