South Carolina State Senator Vincent Sheheen (D-Kershaw) is on his second quest to become governor. For the last two years, he has relentlessly criticized the incumbent and Republican opponent Gov. Nikki Haley and tried to capitalize on faux scandals. As much a foil for encrusted Republicans as he is a Democrat standard bearer, Sheheen has been grasping for leverage and gasping for political oxygen.
Sen. Sheheen must have felt like he was suffocating when he saw the front page, above the fold, large font headline in The State newspaper. It’s likely to put him out of his misery.
